George Sithole

Senior Lecturer


Dr. George Sithole graduated with a BSc. Honours degree in Surveying from the University of Zimbabwe in 1992. He immediately entered the surveying industry and registered as a land surveyor in training with the Council of Land Surveyors of Zimbabwe. In 1994 he recieved his licence to practice as a Professional Land Surveyor. In 1996 he enrolled at ITC (Enschede-Netherlands) and at the end of 1997 received an MSc. degree in Integrated Geoinformation and Map production.

In 1998 Dr. Sithole returned to the University of Zimbabwe as a Lecturer and stayed there until 2001. During this period he also practiced as Land Surveyor. In 2001 he joined the Technical University of Delft and earned his Doctorate in 2005. In 2005 he rejoined the University of Zimbabwe as a Lecturer. in June 2006, Dr. Sithole joined the Division of Geomatics as a senior lecturer.

Research Interests:

Dr. Sithole’s interests are in the areas of Laser Altimetry, Photogrammetry, Computing and 3D reconstruction.
